With deep sorrow we would like to inform that Mr. Susanta Adhikary, the founder President of the National Council of YMCAs of Bangladesh has passed away on 21st February 2002 in Dhaka at his own residence. He was buried at his home village of Khatira, in the district of Barisal. He was born on January 17, 1942. Late Susanta Adhikary was one of the founder member of the Dhaka YMCA and had contributed a lot for the forming as well as expanding the YMCA movement in Bangladesh. He was the founder President of the National Council of YMCAs of Bangladesh and subsequently held the office of the President of Dhaka YMCA as well as the National Council of YMCAs of Bangladesh YMCAs later on several occasions. We saw Late Adhikary as a visionary of the society, who always encouraged the young people to come forward to render leadership with a view to restoring the broken community and to establish a just and humane society. Late Adhikary was the President of Bangladesh Baptist Sangha (The apex body of the Baptist Missions) and the Executive Director of Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB). He was the Editor of a famous bangla fortnightly magazines ‘Swarga Marta’ and ‘Aharaha’. We express our deepest condolence for his sad demise and pray for salvation of departed soul. We do also express our heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family and pray to God the Almighty to give them necessary strength to endure this irreparable loss.
