Dr. Somen Das Speaks on Communal Peace and Harmony

	The National Council of YMCAs of Bangladesh arranged a seminar entitled *"Cooperation Among Religions for Promoting Peace & Communal Harmony"* at the Conference Room, of its office at YMCA Development Centre, Dhaka, on the 17^th of May 2002. Heads of various Church & Ecumenical Organisations along with other leaders attended the seminar. The opening prayer was offered by Dr. S. M. Chowdhury, President of Bangladesh Baptist Church Sangha while the seminar was presided over by Mr. Babu Markus Gomes, President of the National Council of YMCAs of Bangladesh. The first session of the Seminar commenced with sharing of the Scripture by Rev. James T. Halder, Executive Secretary of Bangladesh Bible Society. The theme of his sharing was – *"To receive Christ we became Christians; becoming Christians we are yet to receive Christ."* Rev. Dr. Somen Das, Professor of Serampur Theological College of India, presented the keynote paper on "Cooperation among religions for promoting peace & communal harmony" in the second session of the Seminar. Rev. Das hit the nail on the head of the issue.

		The audience enthused over his perspicuous presentation raising several questions from their own viewpoints. Rev. Das informatively responded to their questions.
