Ripta- A Symbol of a Hardworking Girl

Ripta, just eighteen years old, a young, energetic and determined girl of Bogra YMCA. She lives with her parent’s. Besides, she has two brothers and both of them are studying. But Ripta was very unfortunate and could not continue her study due to their financial insolvency.

Then Ripta’s father was more than fifty years old. He was unable to run his family due to his age and physical condition. Consequently, the entire family came under the dependence of Ripta’s eldest brother who had a little income through some private tuition. His income was not enough to meet their daily bread along with other family expenses. So Ripta had to discontinue her study and help her parents through applying herself diligently when she was in class ten.

During the time of hardship, Ripta heard about YMCA handicraft programme from one of her neighbours Farida who was also a trainee of the programme. Ripta realised that the programme would be effective and would be a great earning source for her in future. So she got admitted and struggled to survive.

Now she is taking care of her youngest brother so that he could be well educated in future. Ripta likes to monitor her brother’s daily homework closely. She has a dream that after completion of her training on block print she will train some of her neighbours and setup a production unit since this kind of vocation requires teamwork. Her training will be completed by end of April 2005.

Ripta is very much grateful to Bogra YMCA for offering her this kind of vocational training especially who can not afford to continue their study any longer.
