Shikha
looks like a happy housewife today but when she got married, the
economical condition of her husband was poor. During that period her
husband worked as an unskilled day labour and earned a poor amount of
money what was nothing comprising to the need of their family. Shikha
became shocked to see the economical condition of her husband.
During
that time she was exploring the way to cooperate with her husband for
changing their economical situation. In the meantime, being informed and
inspired by the Field Staff of Kaligram YMCA she became a member of a
women group. After a certain period she initiated a poultry with her
first loan of Taka 3,000. Gradually she and her husband together
extended the poultry with the 2nd loan of Taka 5,000.
She
produces chickens in her poultry farm and sells them in the market with
the cooperation of her husband and thus earns a satisfactory living.
Shikha become capable to remove the poverty from her family to some
extent. Now she can bear all the expenses of her family and can refund
the weekly savings and loan installment easily from the profit. She
wants to purchase some farming land for cultivation. Thus she want to
continue at least 2/3 small businesses to earn more money what will be
essential to make the future for their children.
In
the meantime, through the process of group activities she gained some
knowledge of preventive health care and the importance of education. Now
she is determined to provide education to her children as much as
possible.
Thus
Shikha becomes self-reliant, happy and a successful woman through the
process of the Community Organizing Program of Kaligram YMCA.
