Chittagong YMCA 

School  Students Staged Street Play

The Students of the Non Formal Primary Schools of Chittagong YMCA staged a Street Play for the public in the open grounds of J.M.Sen High School, Feringhee Bazar, Chittagong  in the afternoon on Sunday, May 27, 2001.

The title of the play was "Etchaa" (desire). The objective of the play was to be make people conscious against child labor. It may be mentioned that most of the students of these schools have come from the deprived class of the society involved in child labor.

The plot of the play was prepared from their own real life situation, what they  usually confront in their daily life. A local Theatre Group "Utsha" assisted them to perform the drama, which acclaimed a lot of appreciation from the audience. The children were delighted to perform before a big audience, which was a great opportunity for them. 

Alhaj Jahirul Alam Dobash, Local City Corporation Ward Commissioner was Chief Guest while Ms. Anjali Kunda, Ward Commissioner of the City Corporation, Mr. Michael Das, Program Coordinator of the National Council of YMCAs and a host of local dignitaries were present on the occasion.       Mr. Akhilla Rozario, Vice President of Chittagong YMCA presided over the program. Mr. James Gomes, General Secretary of Chittagong YMCA  was responsible for organizing the program. The local unit of World Vision sponsored the program.
