Workshop on

"Mass Media and Our Responses"

Developing youth leadership is one of the important agenda of the National Council of YMCAs of Bangladesh, NCYB. In order to strengthen youth leadership in the area of journalism, the NCYB organized a two day long workshop on the theme: "Mass Media and Our Responses" which held on 27-28 September 2005 at the YMCA Training Center, Savar. Improving knowledge and skill of youth on writing reports, features, case studies and interviews were the goal of this workshop. 24 youths from the 13 local YMCAs participated in the workshop.

Rev. Fr. Kamal Corraya, Editor & Publisher, Weekly Pratibeshi, Mr. Philip Gain, Director, Society for Environment and Human Development, Mr. Saifuddin Sabuj, Photo Journalist, Weekly Pratibeshi and Mr. Aldrick Biswas, Asstant Editor, Christabda were facilitators of  the Workshop.

At the closing session of the workshop NGS, NCYB inspired the participants to act as a true journalist to established justice in the society. He amongst the participants formed a forum of the reporters to enrich our own magazine 'Prochesta' with the news of local YMCAs. Besides, he advised to provide the news to other relevant media to highlight and promote the activities of YMCAs with a view to encourage the youths of our society.
