The National Council of YMCAs of Bangladesh has been underscoring the need for propagating education among the underprivileged children through its Non-Formal Primary Education (NFPE) Schools in the country for several years. Currently, 56 six schools are being run under this NFPE program having more than two thousand of students.

The National Council of YMCAs is very keen on bringing this alternative education method under a systematic way in pursuance of achieving the overall aim of this program. As a part of it, it resorts to teachers’ training every year for the pedagogical development of the concerned teachers. This year the training was organized at the YMCA Training Center in Savar, Dhaka into two phases from 30th April - 3rd May and 4th - 7th May 2003 respectively. The National General Secretary Mr. Duncan Chowdhury delivered his opening speech while Ms. Ashima Sircar, Headmistress of Dhaka YWCA Girls’ High School was the Chief Trainer of both phases. Mr. Michael Das and Mr. Duke Mazumder was responsible to organize the Training Conference.

Different educational concerns were put across to the teachers so that they will be able enough to have penetrating insight and immense knowledge of education psychology. It is expected that the training shall ginger up the teachers to illumine & discover the treasure hidden inside the deprived children through this humanitarian program.
