| Often floods become a big challenge, especially for the poor people in Bangladesh. Several hundreds people lose their houses, assets, crops and valuables during these floods. Considering the suffering of the flood affected people, Bangladesh YMCA initiates instantly Emergency Relief Work and takes initiative to implement the rehabilitation program for agriculture, houses, safe water and sanitation for the flood effected program. | |

| In this year 2005, Bangladesh YMCA distributed 390 low cost & flood protected houses and 100 safe toilets as a part of Rehabilitation Program amongst the flood victims in the areas of Bogra, Birisiri and Gopalgonj YMCAs. Last year Bangladsh YMCA distributed 50 houses amongst the flood victims at Sariakandi Area under Bogra YMCA. | |

| These houses were made of concrete pillars, with steel structure, the fencing and roof with corrugated galvanized iron (CGI) sheets. The uniqueness of these houses is that they were very much flexible and can be easily dismantled and shifted to other places at any time. The cost is Taka 20,000 for each houses and Taka 1,500 for each Slab Latrines. | |
