Bogra YMCA Celebrates 24th Founding Anniversary


The members of the YMCA who didn't have a meeting place or a program center, used to meet frequently to develop a local YMCA under the shade of a tree in the late Seventies, today that YMCA has been transformed to be one of the leading YMCAs in the  country having the largest program operation amongst the YMCAs here in Bangladesh. 

This YMCA is no other than Bogra YMCA, situated in the Northern Region of the country. On 31st of March, 2003 Bogra YMCA celebrated the 24th Founding Anniversary in a befitting manner. 

A day long program was chalked to mark the occasion. The day started with a Member Development Workshop in the morning, around 100 members participated at the Workshop. The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sajal Dewan, President of Bogra YMCA. The Workshop was conducted by Mr. Duncan Chowdhury, National General Secretary and Mr. Michael S. Das, Program Coordinator of the National Council.

In the evening a Discussion Meeting was held, the General Secretary of Bogra YMCA, Mr. Robert Robin Marandi took all the audience down through the memory lane, highlighting the events of Bogra YMCA during the past 24 years from the inception. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Mr. Mozammel Hoque Lalu, Editor of Daily Korotoa, the largest circulated daily of the Northern Region, while Mr. Duncan Chowdhury, Father Dutti Carlo and Mr. Pintu Areng were the Special Guests, who also spoke on the occasion amongst a host of others. The meeting was presided by the President, Dr. Sajal Dewan. Several Hundred of local dignitaries attended the meeting.

The discussion meeting concluded a cultural soiree, organized by the members and staff members of Bogra YMCA.
