The Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs organized a Regional Training of Trainers (ToT), entitled “Capacity Building for Women in the YMCA toward Gender Responsiveness of a Gender-Just-Society” which held during  5-10 November 2006, at Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The components of the Training were:  

Ø       Women, Gender and Leadership;

Ø       Media & Advocacy;

Ø       Feminization of Poverty;

Ø       Women & Health;

Ø       Women & Leadership in the YMCA;

Ø       Group discussion , Q & A

Ø       Exposure: Visit a weaving village,

Steps recommended towards Gender Development in Bangladesh YMCAs at the ToT:

Build confidence in the capacity of women to serve God;

Share and acquire wider & deeper perspective about reality of women for free movement in society  and to build community of just peace;

Develop women’s leadership for capacity build up and empowerment of people;

Equip women with skills on media, gender advocacy, governance & decision making, social analysis, training, other related skills;

Ensure more space and access for women in the YMCAs at all levels;

Adopt new policy guidelines with time bound work plan for networking of women leadership in the country for awareness of human rights and social justice, skills training, employment, education, workshop, seminar.
