We are glad to inform that Mr. Swapan Baroi, General Secretary of Kaligram YMCA has completed the 27th Advanced Studies Program held from 26th October to 27th November 2009 at Hong Kong organized by the Asia & Pacific Alliance of YMCAs.
The major components of his studies at the Advanced Studies Program were:
- Contemporary Theological Perspectives
- Contextual Realities & Impact
- Contextual Responses: Community-based Movements for Transformation
- Contextual Responses: Global Citizenship with Civil Responsibilities
- YMCA Mission in Context- Challenge 21
- Workshop on Project Proposal Writing
- Exposure: Migrant Workers Concerns, Urban Youth, Sustainable Community Movement, Urban Poor- Rights & Advocacy.
Mr. Baroi has been serving as the General Secretary of Kaligram YMCA since 1st May 2005. He has already demonstrated his ability to steer a YMCA in befitting manner. Kaligram YMCA is rural YMCA, situated in the southern region of Bangladesh and do operate quite a number of multi-sectoral development activities mostly for the suffering people in its vicinity. Micro Credit, Children School Program, Adolescent Girls Programs, Children Immunization Program are the core programs of Kaligram YMCA. Beside these they have fishery activities, run a ice factory to serve the local fishermen folk, these programs are also contributing towards the sustenance of the YMCA.
We do hope that participation at the Advanced Studies will surely put a thrust on Mr. Baroi to achieve the mission of the YMCA at his YMCA as well as Bangladesh YMCAs at large to serve the community better.
