30th Annual General Meeting

The Meeting started with a devotion lead by Mr. Rup Chand Baroi.
Mr. Bill Harte, Official Representative on behalf of the World Alliance of YMCAs and Asia & Pacific Alliance of YMCAs were present at the meeting as Guest of Honor. Dignitaries and Social Leaders of the Society also attended the meeting.
Mr. Nirmal Rozario, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Christian Association, and President of the Christian Cooperative Credit Union, Dhaka was present as Special Guest at the meeting.
Mr. Stephen Baroi, President of the Christian College of Theology in Bangladesh was also present at the meeting as a Special Guest.
Mr. Babu Markus Gomes, Former Member of the Executive Committee, World Alliance of YMCAs was also present at the meeting as a Special Guest, too.
The Meeting was presided by the Acting President Mr. Symon P. Adhikary, while National General Secretary Mr. Nirmal D’Costa presented the Annual Report and Mr. Bilash Gomes, Honorary Treasurer presented the Treasurer’s Report at the Meeting, including the Audited Statements of Accounts and relevant budgets, which was unanimously approved at the meeting.
A total of 70 Delegates from 10 Local YMCAs including Members from Dhaka YMCA attended the Meeting. The new Office Bearers of the Organization were also elected at the meeting. Mr. Symon P. Adhikary, NEC Member of Kaligram YMCA was elected as President, while Mr. Patrick Sarker, NEC Member of Jessore YMCA, Mr. Rupchand Baroi, NEC Member of Barisal YMCA, Mr. Raymond Areng, NEC Member of Birisiri YMCA were elected as Vice Presidents and Mr. D. L. Nirbhoy Das, NEC Member of Dinajpur YMCA was elected as the Honorary Treasurer of the Organization for the next tenure.
Around 200 honorable guests were present at the meeting, they include, Church Leaders and Leaders of the NGO Community and media personalities from various national dailies and TV Networks.
The meeting ended with affirmation of the Representatives from the Local YMCAs to work together with an open heart, henceforth, for the reconstruction and reconciliation of the YMCAs in Bangladesh with transparency, accountability and governance.
