7th YMCA National YMCA Youth Conference

  

  

At this juncture of globalization, foreign culture is impressing on the youths with a great force. Consequently, indigenous culture is gradually being brought at bay no doubt. With an eye to this issue, Bangladesh YMCA organized its 7th YMCA National Youth Conference choosing the theme "Nurturing Our Own Culture to Attain Fullness of Life" held from 30th September – 3rd October 2003 in Birisiri YMCA premises.

Birisiri, which is mostly inhabited by the Garo Aboriginals , situated at the Northeast part of Bangladesh putting on its innate beauty. More than 50 participants from different local YMCAs along with delegates from Norwegian YWCA-YMCA attended the Youth Conference.

 

 

 
 

 

Besides the theme Presentation, the Garo Community, the Culture in Bangladesh and the Norwegian History, Culture & Heritage were put forward to the participants. An exposure trip by boat & a Cultural Show also jazzed up the youths present in the conference. In the ‘Birisiri Declaration’ the participants gave their commitment to work for the preservation & development of own culture and heritage.
